A first conversation about capital is rarely a decision meeting. It is a chance to show that you understand your business clearly and know what the money would change.

Be ready to explain, briefly, who the customer is, the problem you solve, the evidence you have and why your team is suited to it. Then connect the request to a milestone: what you will achieve, roughly when, and what it will prove.

Know your numbers well enough to discuss them without slides: current costs, how revenue could work and the assumptions behind any projection. Be honest about what is still unknown.

Treat it as a two-way conversation. Ask how the other side works, what support comes alongside capital and which terms would need a separate agreement.
